In September 2009 Pete Adcock, Tony Findley & Frank Ward are going to cycle from London to Paris in aid of the LOROS Hospice in Leicestershire. We have created this blog so that everyone can follow our fundraising events, news and generally see how their training is progressing! (Select 'Events' - we will post all events arranged on here as we organise. Hope to see you at some of them - also don't forget to check the archive to the right so that you do not miss anything)
Just wanted to add a little something!! Thanks to Val for keeping us all updated on the blog!!
ReplyDeleteWell just Shared dinner and a glass of Wine with my very tired dad, and hes been telling us all about it and all the story's from the people he's met, reasons there doing it and for which charity's.
Anyway one story really touched me about a guy that was doing it for his dad, and from what he had told my dad he'd had an injury and had to have a number of weeks off, resulting in him only completing his target miles a week before they went!!! Anyway he'd found the first day really hard and as they rode through the home straight my dad saw him sitting on the grass obviously very tired and hot after completing the ride and my dad said to him " You did it mate" And he was obviously so overcome by emotion all he could reply was "I wish my dad was here"
It just really touched me and made me realise people had completed it for all numbers of reasons and people, we can only begin to imagine the emotions they all felt!!
So CONGRATULATIONS to Pete, Tony and Frank and off course to all the cyclists!! Im sure the money that has been raised will make a big diffrence to help others.
